Have you Cleaned your Home today?

Every time I clean my apartment, I let out a silent prayer- “Oh god, please! I hope I don’t have to do this again”, clearly knowing that I will repeat the entire process after 2–3 days.

And once I am done cleaning for the day, I feel a sense of peace, freedom, and relief.

A clean home doesn’t come easy. And just like a clean home, inculcating our minds with positive, high-vibrational thoughts doesn’t come easy.

When we leave our mind unsupervised, it becomes a dumping ground for bad/negative thoughts, inaction, and blame-game.

If we take time to clean our minds using introspection, conscious thoughts, avenues to be more positive, expand our views, and take time to think about our words/actions, we may feel more at peace. I say “may” because, of course, life isn’t straightforward!

But how can we clean our minds?

Since I speak from a point of privilege, it’s hard to just get into details of how to uplift our thoughts. It may vary from person to person and our circumstances in life.

There may not even be an objective definition of a clean mind. It all depends on what makes us feel at home and most importantly, at peace.

Since there isn’t a single answer to this question, I can share what I do to be at peace:

  1. Take a break from social media, phone, laptop, or any other devices.
  2. Plan a picnic in a Park.
  3. Read an inspiring book.
  4. Try to pause for ten minutes and take deep breaths, feeling every breath of air come in and out.
  5. Take a stroll alone.
  6. Observe plants, birds, insects, or any animal that is around me. It helps me with grounding.
  7. Play my instrument (Piano) and get lost in the beautiful notes.
  8. Paint.
  9. Introspect and think about the changes I can make to my words, actions, and behavior to be a better human.

The more often we cleanse and declutter our minds, the easier it is for us to make simple, informed decisions.

But even if you slip, do not worry about it. Today is an excellent time to re-start your jouney. You are never late to make your life better.

So, tell me, have you Cleaned your Home today?
