The Silence of the Street Talks to Me.

A Poem.

When the world is half-asleep, my mind whispers heavily.

It swims in thoughts that I usually, wouldn’t perceive.

During mid-day, these thoughts always take the back seat.

But now that there is no noise, my mind wanders away blissfully

It says:

“Oh, look at that Sunrise. Isn’t the Universe magnificent”

“Oh, look at those pesticide-ridden landscape trees. The ones that fought years of storms, hail, and rains. But today stand amidst concrete streets.”

“Oh. Hello, little Basil plant. You smell so sweet.”

“Oh, hello, little bee. Hope my flowers provided you with some relief?”

“Hmmm… The air feels so fresh. Wait till the cars start to drive past me.”

As the clock strikes 7, the world starts to wake up.

In few minutes, cars fill the streets.

The “We are open” incandescent signs blink annoyingly.

Humans walk with their struggles and troubles on their shoulders,

Expectations of their friends and families.

Things become heavy. There is no relief.

But again, in the dawn of the morning or the darkest hours of the night,

When the world goes back to sleep.

I will get to hear my thoughts again.

Blissfully. Peacefully.
